9. Opposite Activity–"Find the Friend" Game

Objective: To teach basic "opposites" like big-small, hot-cold, happy-

sad, full-empty etc.

Activity: "Find the Friend" (Movement Game)

Materials:

 Flashcards with pictures and opposite words (e.g., a big ball and

a small ball)

Steps:

1. Warm-Up:

 Show a flashcard: "This is BIG. What is the opposite?"

Children respond: "SMALL!"

2. Matching Game:

Give each child a card with either a word or picture (e.g. "hot" or

a sun).

They walk around and "find their opposite friend" (e.g., "cold" or

an ice cube)

3. Pair Talk:

Each pair stands and says:

 I have hot."–"I have cold."
"
 Hot is the opposite of cold."
"

4. Group Sorting:

Create two columns on the board. Stick all "happy" words/

pictures on one side and "sad" on the other etc.

Learning Outcome: Children understand that opposites are two

words with opposite meanings and can identify basic pairs.
